When is a fenestrated drape used?

Sterile fenestrated drape is a non-woven sterile material used in many medical environments. It is designed to be highly absorbent and strong enough to prevent tearing. They are used to create a pollution-free area during medical and surgical procedures, or to hide body areas that are not affected by surgery. Medical equipment can also be covered with sterile fenestrated drapes to protect it.

Many operations require the use of specially shaped fenestrated drapes to accommodate medical equipment and ensure that the surgical area remains sterile. Most surgeries have a set of special surgical fenestrated drapes for surgery. The whole set of equipment can be packaged together to simplify the setting of the operating room.

Sterile fenestrated drapes are used in almost every medical procedure. Before surgery, they are used to cover areas that are not part of the surgical procedure. The fenestrated drape may have Velcro to hold the catheter and venous (IV) line in place during surgery. Some surgical fenestrated drapes have folding bags at the bottom to collect blood or body fluids released during surgery. They can not only take care of patients, but also protect medical staff and prevent cross infection during surgery.

Sterile fenestrated drapes are also used to protect medical equipment from accidental damage. Liquids and small surgical tools can cause damage if they fall on some equipment. Covering such equipment with sterile fenestrated drapes can protect the equipment without contaminating the sterile areas required for most medical procedures.
