They are resistant to abrasion and punctures, yet their flexible, cloth-like properties allow them to drape naturally, following the patient's contours. The impermeable construction of the surgical pack helps reduce the occurrence of strikethrough, which create pathways for microorganisms that can lead to contamination and infection. Additionally, the absorbent top layer can effectively retains and disperses fluid away from the patient.
